Champions Again!!!
Well James has played another tournament. This tournament he started out slow. He really didn't look very good even though the team was winning by large margins of 30 or more points. I asked him what was wrong and he told me that his leg hurt and he wanted to go see a doctor. So right after the second game we went to see a doctor. The doctor told him that he had a strained Achilles tendon. I asked the question that James was afraid to ask, whether or not he could still play. The doctor was very diplomatic about it. She said I won't say, because none of you guys listen to me anyway. Well, when I asked James why he didn't say anything about his foot he said he was afraid he would have to sit down. We started him on some rehab that morning with electric shock therapy, ultrasound and icing and then he was back on the court that afternoon. They won a close game and advanced to the second round. By winning all of the first round games they got Sunday off and so we kept him going with that rehab in between. Monday, they played two more games and took the championship. They have participated in three tournaments as a team this year and have won 2 of them. The other one they pulled out, because one of the big men messed up his knee. The coach of the number one Junior High school team was at most of the games watching James. They are still very interested in him going there and playing and so we will continue to evaluate the recruiting process and see where it goes from there. James wants to go there to play, but we need to look at the entire package instead of just the basketball nature of it.
