Champions

James participated in the Hualien Athletic Month Basketball Tournament. His school participated along with 32 other elementary schools. They went through the first couple of rounds fairly easily. They won games 27-6 and 35-11. Today they played their last two games. The first one was very tense. James scored a third of the points and with time running out, James came down and stuck the dagger in their heart, by making a cut to the hoop and scoring a basket, to put them up by 4. The other team did score another basket and the final score was 37-35 with James' basket being the winning points. Later in the day they played the championship game. James did his part to get everyone involved, but again with a 86 seconds left in the game the other team made a shot to go up by one. They brought the ball down and hit James cutting to the basket again, to put them back on top. They were able to get a stop and then came down the court and the assistant team captain made a basket. At the other end James got a steal and brought the ball down the length of the court to make a layup. Finally, on the next play James made a steal again and was fouled going to the hoop. He made both shots to help bring home the trophy. They ended up winning by the score of 34-29. When it was crunch time he put the team on his back and led them to the championship. After the game he said the funniest thing. He said you know why we played so hard in the end, because the coach said if we won he would take us out for steaks on Wednesday. Steak is his favorite food.
